Disastrous news for the start of the year; Seren JR has been diagnosed with a torn suspensory ligament in one of her fore legs. This means at least 3 months box rest for her leaving Rebecca with nothing to ride. This is most frustrating because she is progressing so well under saddle. A chance conversation with Ifor and Myfanwy Lloyd (Derwen Stud) has led to the lease of Derwen Gosshawk of Staffs a cracking gelding for Rebecca to drive and show perhaps later on in the season. On the upside while the vet was examining JR, she also had a look at Bliss (who we believed to be empty) and after a brief examination declared her to be in foal. Excellent news as she is in foal to Gwynfaes Culhwch. Bliss has also won the best single animal in the West Wales Horse and Pony Assoc progeny competition for a second year. Another piece of good news was that our two year old colt Thorneyside the Marksman was passed as a stallion by the vet on the same visit. He then went on to take sixth place at Glanusk stallion show. We are delighted with the way he is tuning out, he has temperament to die for and still performs in the show ring.
